Back To Mine with DJ Angelo

1. Thievery Corporation  – Scene At The Open Air Market

My favourite track from the “Sounds of the Thievery Hi-Fi”. This album got me into more easy listening music and started me on a path exploring various genres of electronica during my mid teens.

2. Kid Loco – Relaxin’ With Cherry

This reminds me of late night driving around the city, a cool breeze hitting my face. This track makes me feel happy and nostalgic at the same time. Super nice use of guitar sample played by Earl Klugh in George Benson’s “El Mar”

3. Miles Davis – Mystery

Relaxing, intriguing and driving opener for the Grammy Award winning “Doo-Pop”. The last album of the legend Miles Davis.

4. Alex Gopher – The Child

Super cool animation accompanied by the outstanding work of Alex Gopher. Funky loops, dreamy chords and the amazingly sampled Billie Holiday vocal. A track that Gopher did in celebration of the birth of his son. So inspiring.

5. Stereo Mc’s – Connected

Ahead of it’s time. Almost three decades after and it sounds so fresh! A classic by the great Stereo MC’s!

6. St Germain – Family Tree

St Germain is one of the best and this track is my favorite from the long anticipated “Real Blues” album. Most listened flight soundtrack for me.

7. Kevin Yost – Natural High

Splendid deep and jazzy house tune from Kevin Yost. You can do anything while listening to this one.

8. LTJ Bukem – Music

A masterpiece from the drum and bass master LTJ Bukem. Timeless.

9. Tangerine Dream – Love On A Real Train

Subconsciously, this gem takes me back to where it all began.

Love On A Real Train

10. Hans Zimmer – Time

Since 2010 i have an answer to the question “what is your favourite movie” and that, is Inception. Definitely Hans Zimmer’s outstanding soundtrack took Nolan’s masterpiece into the next level. Dream or reality?

DJ Angelo – Babel EP (connected) Release: 17th July 2020 Cat No: connected058

DJ Angelo is a respected producer and DJ who has been a mainstay of the electronic music scene in his native Greece for some time. While a key player in the Greek market, he’s also taken his talents globally to some of dance music’s go-to hot spots such as Ibiza, New York and London. He has released on labels like Saved, Armada, Rise and of course connected in the past, with his last record for the UK label dropping exactly two
years ago. ‘Black Sheep’ was hugely well received at the time, picking up support from the likes of Dixon, Black Coffee and Danny Tenaglia and this latest offering is sure to follow in its footsteps.
The release opens with title track ‘Babel’, a deep cinematic offering with squelchy acidic synths, rising percussion and a plaintive female vocal refrain that hangs in the air. Understated and mesmerising, this is another emotive winner from DJ Angelo. The second of the two cuts comes in the shape of ‘Radar’, a more propulsive and direct affair that journeys into darker musical territory with jagged synth rhythms and a brooding sense of tension.
