Back to Mine with Kinnerman

Gaining huge recognition since the start of his career with Solardo naming him as their ‘one to watch’, Kinnerman’s productions have been released on some of the biggest labels in the game including Toolroom, Elrow, NONSTOP and ORIGINS. ‘The Weekend’ follows up his recent smash on the label, ‘Promised Land’, which hit the top ten spot on Beatport and garnered support from the likes of Steve Lawler, FISHER, CamelPhat and Eats Everything.

Kinnerman makes his welcome return to Kaluki this month with his brand-new single, ‘The Weekend’.An energetic, Tech House groover; ‘The Weekend’, brings crisp percussion, a playful bassline and an instantly recognisable vocal sample which builds suspense before a powerful drop which is guaranteed to get the dance floor shaking.

Ahead of its release, we caught up with him to get the lowdown on his afterparty essentials.

1. Black Loops – NYC Dirty Talks

Im obsessed with this track recently, its just got this infexious groove, stripped back and raw and the bassline is just pure gold. Cant fault this.

2. Maya Jane Coles – What They Say (Original Mix)

This track takes me back to when i was in my early days of raving with my mates, we would go to circus in liverpool then onto the magnet for the afterparty, I would always hear it get played!

3. Gui Boratto – The Drill

Whenever im looking for something really gritty an tough and quite moody, i play this, it inspires me so much, a bit of an
emotional rollercoaster of a tune.

4. Paul Kalkbrenner – Azure

This is such a good track to close on, especially if you’ve had the dance floor all night an its really early in the morning, everyone’s pretty f**ked and you just wanna leave on that chilled vibe, this is the one.

5. Patrick Topping – Forget

How could I ‘forget’ this one haha, always been a fan of Patrick’s stuff ever since the beginning, but I no one is topping this track from him!

6. Alex Virgo – Ze Dance

Ultimate happy mood, that piano works so well on every dance floor ive played it, the percussion gives it that samba, carnival feel and them high strings an vocal give it a disco groove. You can do it, do the dance 😉

7. Mar-T, Luca Donzelli – Stay Alert Stay Alive (Original Mix)

I can’t remember where I was playing but I ended up going this afters after a gig, it was a student hall and the electric goes off for like 10 minutes, when it came back on I played this in the kitchen/living room to a crammed in about 60 people and they went crazy.

9. Hot Natured & Ali Love – Benediction

Such a sexy tune man, them vocals are so nice, after the music stops and that one more tune shout comes on, suns beaming through that warehouse roof at the afters your in, let them off in a nice place, this is the track for me!

10. Soul Central – Strings of Life

I remember buying this when i was 10 years old in a record store in Amsterdam whilst on a short trip around Europe with my mum (yes I was in love with DJing from the age of 6 actually) – it was actually the first time I heard it but knew it was out a fair few years before that, it’s just a masterpiece and will never get old. True house music.
