Air – ‘La Femme d’Argent’
The opening track from the classic Moon Safari album. The first time I heard this, I dropped everything I was doing and time stopped for seven minutes.
Brian Eno – ‘Ascent (from Appollo)
This piece seems to evoke the perfect atmosphere no matter where you are or what the atmosphere is. Ethereal and sublime.
Rob Dougan – ‘Clubbed to Death’
A superb example of orchestral dance that takes you on a emotion rollercoaster from start to finish, leaving you drained but wanting another go.
Aphex Twin – ‘Xtal‘
One of Richard James’s first tracks and still his best in my opinion. Makes me feel like I’m on holiday.
Heaven 17 – ‘Temptation’
Every Top 10 needs a guilty pleasure and this is mine. Classic electronic pop from the 80’s.
Quantic – ‘Time Is The Enemy’
I love the sound on this track, the drums are drop-dead cool and the piano floats around in stereo creating a great laid-back feel.
Lemon Jelly – ‘In the Bath’
Hypnotic, comical and downright lovely. Maybe a bias choice as one of the Urban Myth Club wrote the mesmerizing hook you hear all the way through the track. A soundtrack to a million and one TV spots.
Frank Zappa – ‘Amnerika (from Civilization Phase iii)’
A truly unique piece of music, with excellent use of made samples. Complex and intelligent, this track always brings me something new even after playing it hundreds of times.
Blue States – ‘Diamente’
Lush and lazy vibes from our man Andy Dragazis. It’s the kind of track you loop on repeat.
Henry Mancini – ‘The Pink Panther Theme’
This track breaks nearly all the rules of composition yet it is not complex, it is immediately accessible, fun to listen to and never boring.
