ASCO

Italian DJ/producer ASCO has proven to be one of the most exciting rising talents on the circuit, championing a Future Rave hybrid sound that’s seen him gain attention from the industry’s leading imprints and artists. Returning to the forefront of the release radar, ASCO links up with fan-turned-collaborator SoNick for their mammoth single “Distraction”. This fiery release follows the announcement of ASCO’s #73 placement within 1001Tracklists’ Top 101 producers and respective #133 placement in the DJ Mag Top 150, marking his highest-charting year to date. “Distraction” is available now across all streaming platforms, via ASCO’s own label, CAOS.

DMCWORLD checks in with the main man…

Hi ASCO – welcome to DMC Magazine, how are you doing?

Hi Guys! Glad to be here, everything is going super!

Congratulations on your latest release ‘Distraction’ what was the inspiration behind the track?

I received the first demo of ‘Distraction’ by SoNick on Instagram for a collaboration proposal. The moment I heard it I fell in love with the piece, SoNick sent me the original stems, I added my touch to the release and closed it! While working on it I was inspired by the story of how we ended up collaborating on this release.

What was it like collaborating with SoNick?

SoNick is a talented producer and at the same time a really nice person. I actually did not tell him much about the changes I was making, he heard the final version when I played it during one of my livestreams! He was really excited about it!

We hear there is a heart-warming story about how you met, please tell us more?

I met Nicola (SoNick), about 3 years ago. I was visiting an Italian hospital thanks to a programme that organized visits to patients to keep them company and give them the opportunity to meet their favorite music artists. Whilst there, I was told there was a teenager in intensive care that was a big fan of mine, he really wanted to meet me but couldn’t because of the strict rules of the intensive care ward. I was really saddened to know that despite trying, I wasn’t going to be able to meet him that day, so I decided to go back and visit him as soon as he was out of intensive care.

Do you find collaborating on tracks more enjoyable than releasing solo?

It is much easier for me to release solo, I like to have full control of the production process. I’ve only done a few collaborative projects, all of them with artists that I know personally.

Congratulations on your achievements, placing #73 in 1001Tracklists’ Top 101 producers and #133 placement in the DJ Mag Top 150, marking your highest-charting year to date. How did you feel hearing this news?

Incredible, I really could not believe it! When you work hard it’s always rewarding to receive this type of news. You understand that everything you do is really being appreciated by djs and fans and that’s the best news an artist can get!

How do you find inspirations for your releases?

From everything! I’m actually not the type of person that can go in the studio and produce something out of nothing, I usually get a lot of inspiration while driving and when traveling. My most successful tracks have been initially started at airports, airplanes and cars, usually before gigs.

Who is your biggest inspiration?

I take inspiration from different artists and music genres. I think the most influential ones at the moment for me are David Guetta and Dardust.

Is there anyone you would love to collaborate with in the future?

Sander van Doorn! He was among the first big artists to believe in my project and music, it would be an honor to collaborate with him.

Do you have any more releases lined up that we should keep our ears open for?

I have one, “Fortuna”, to be released on Doorn! I hope to give you more news about it soon.

Where can we keep up to date with you?

You can follow me on Instagram! It is my favorite social media, @asco_music!
