The Best Of 2012

The Tunes

Pachanga Boys – Legs (from the Colette `SEX` compilation)
Poolside – Pacific Standard Time LP
Todd Terje – Inspector Norse

The Festival

I only went to one and that was Sonar. You cant beat it. Leftfield electronic music in the sunshine. There were quite a few events and parties around the actual Sonar festival too which made it feel a bit more spread out than usual. The highlights were Trevor Jackson (day time set), Flying Lotus, Darkside (live), DJ Harvey (day time closing set)

The Club

ASBO at The Lock Tavern on London of course

The Producer

Pachanga Boys / Rebolledo

The Hero

DJ Harvey
I’ve waited all my life and now I’ve seen him twice in a year. The night at Oval Space in October was definitely my clubbing highlight of the year as I think it was for many others. The crowd was amazing. It was like `This Is Your Life` for clubland. Every face was there that I’d met through clubs over the past 20 years. And of course the music was magical…

The Breakthrough Artist

Todd Terje
I have been a fan of his for years, but I think this year he has stepped up to another level. He has moved from DJ / remixer to in demand producer

The Prediction For 2013

I really like a young Brookyln rapper called Joey Bada$$ who is part of the Pro Era crew. The music I’ve heard so far by Velvet Seasons and The Hearts of Gold is pretty interesting. It’s Joel from Quiet Village and Jerry Rooney. I also think that the second album from Cooly G (Hyperdub) could break through. I loved her debut. The true sound of the UK
