Amadeus Mozart -Tidy Boys Ideal Weekender

Southport Weekender goes hard!

tboys

Hello to Amadeus Mozart, one half of the iconic Tidy Boys, welcome to DMC magazine Amo and it’s fair to say we haven’t covered the hard dance genre much since the glory days of Fergie and Sundissential back in the 2000’s, so where have you all been?

Well we haven’t moved anywhere really, like all styles of music we have had our hi and low points, our boom years, and 1998 to 2005 was a great 7 year period. However I have been around long enlightened to know music has cycles, and Hard House is now the cult underground movement which made it exciting and cool back in the mid 90s. With a Dubstep event in every street corner the next generation are looking for something new, fresh and not commercialised.

You have been involved with many dance weekenders so what made you put your own event on in Southport this month, tell us how the Ideal Weekender came about?

We have done 20 Tidy weekenders, most at Pontins in Prestatyn, but with the new hard house movement and our new brand Ideal we thought it was time to move home, give a new twist on a format which has worked well for 11 years. Southport is bigger and I think a better site, plus it’s still Pontins, so it’s the same but different.

We loved the live ball draw to announce the DJ’s who will be playing at the weekender FA Cup style, how live was it?

It seemed live at the time, of course it was pre-recorded then beamed live through UStream TV online. We had fun doing it and wanted a twist on announcing the line up, beats posting it up in text format on a Facebook wall.

Your bringing all the styles of the hard dance spectrum for the show from hardcore and hardstyle to trance and of course hard house, are you all one big happy family or is there a little rivalry between the genres?

No it’s all one big happy family, there is the love/hate Hard Style, many traditional hard housers get a bit worried about the 155bpm distorted kick drum, off beat baseline and triplet fairground riffs. In an Ideal world we all love every style of music, as long as its hard.

Going back to you and Andy Pickles as the Tidy Boys, always known for your crazy and often bizarre weekender sets with varies costumes, zip wires and grand piano’s, what can we expect from you this time?

Yes expect a strange intro, expect a costume and as always the Friday night will go off with a bang.

I see your son Max Mozart is playing too and also has been making music with BK for the Ideal label, will he take after you and become one of the Tidy boys if you ever retire or maybe you could become the first father and son DJ team?

Yes Max has quickly over the last 12 months established himself as a top producer and DJ in hard house, alongside his track with BK he has just produced Ideals biggest release so far called LIVE AGAIN, which he co produced with Technikal, that’s massive at the moment. He is also a out to be signed to the Ideal Artist DJ agency. I have not sat in his room and taught him production or DJing tips, he has done all this off his own back, must be in the blood.

Thankyou Amo, we look forward to 3 days of sweat and sunshine with you.
