Golden Gate are collective exploring the sounds of disco, funk, soul and house anchored around producer and DJ Tee Cooper and songwriter Harper Lake. All the music is played live in the studio by a revolving cast of killer international vocalist and musicians including mainstays Dubsworth (Jahtari) out of L.A on bass, rising UK jazz star Tom O’Brien (Vortex) on keys, Parthenope (Blue Note/Ronnie Scott’s) on Sax and Horns and Ali Gudgeon (Brilliant Corners/Heavy Vibes) on Percussion and UK session drum hero Joe Montague. Releases including ‘My Name Is Love’ with Inaya Day on The Disco Express label earlier this year, have been supported by the likes of Skream, Laurent Garnier, Danny Krivit, Mousse T, BBC Radio 1, Horse Meat Disco, and more. Performance wise, Golden Gate have played shows across the UK including Jazz Cafe, Glastonbury, Big Love, Secret Garden, Wilderness, and Beat Herder. As their new collaboration with Jason Herd and Jessie Wagner, ‘Carry On’, lands on Bohemian Disco, DMCWorld goes Back To Mine with Golden Gate.

Aphex Twin – Strotha Tynhe
Aphex is under rated for his solo piano work, this might be a bit spooky for the afters but hey.
Yusef Lateef – Love Theme From Spartacus
Hard to know what to pick from Yusef, and so many versions of this classic. But he was so expressive, this transports you somewhere.
Chic – At Last I Am Free
Cant do one of these without a song by Chic. All the feels, actually one of the first Chic songs I ever heard, randomly, given they have a few ‘slightly more famous tracks.
Rotary Connection – I Am The Black Gold Of The Sun
Nuyorican Soul are our number one inspiration, so could have gone with their version. But what about the crunchy guitar on this?
Kool & The Gang – Summer Madness
Sure, this is not exactly underground. But give it another listen. Saw them play it live last year at Love Supreme. It is just the best thing ever, it’s perfect. So it’s going on.
Parthenope – Don’t Know Why
We’re super lucky to have Parhenope play with us live, and she’s on some of the records too. This was a breakthrough track on Blue Note to all the amazing things she’s doing now.
Rhythm & Sound with Jennifer Lara – Queen In My Empire
Possibly the most perfectly executed production. They are studio magicians. How did they do it? It’s a secret. And the vocal is perfect, the dub is awesome too.
Stevie Wonder – Visions In My Mind (Live in Brighton)
As you can tell we like live performances, bring back inspirational intro chats for 2026, and being casually able to play a better live version than the album. And that solo? Plus, it’s 10 minutes! We can all learn a lot from this.
