Back To Mine With Insolate

Insolate has become a driving force in the Croatian and international techno scene over the last two decades. She heads up the Out Of Place label as well as the essential TRAUM events and dropped a vital album, ‘Order Is Chaos’ in 2020. She counts the likes of Paula Temple, Ben Sims and Truncate as fans and cooks up more direct dance floor destruction again here. As her ‘Female Alpha Ep’ drops on Lady Tazz’s Mind Medizin, DMCWorld goes Back To Mine with Insolate.

Burial – Untrue (album)

I remember when I first heard this album; I was mesmerised by the production techniques made through the use of chopped and manipulated vocal samples. Additionally, it enveloped me in a unique melancholic ambiance that instantly resonated and lingered with me.

Daft Punk – Homework (album)

This album holds a significant place in my heart, as it was one of the first albums I listened to at the beginning of my DJ career in 1997. A true masterpiece!

Sade – Lovers Live (album)

I’ve watched and listened to it countless times. The subtle lights, her soft voice, and the beautiful music are perfectly balanced. Like a paradise.

Sade - Paradise (Lovers Live)

The Prodigy – The Fat of the Land (album)

When I want to get wild and letting loose, this is the perfect option for some head-smacking fun. Timeless classic!

The Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up

Jack Harlow – Come Home the Kids Miss You (album)

The rap album that left a lasting impression on my 2022, serving as both my comfort zone and a source of feel-good vibes.

Jack Harlow - Like A Blade of Grass

Whitney Huston – Whitney (album)

What can I say? It’s an absolute classic. This vinyl has spun countless times in my home. I hold beautiful memories connected to Whitney’s work; shortly after her passing, I visited Panorama Bar, and a DJ concluded his set with “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.” It was a profoundly powerful moment, courtesy of a track from this album.

James Blake (album)

The first album from one of the most inspiring artists I aspire to collaborate with.  “Limit to Your Love” is one of the favourites from this album and it is a ground breaking minimalist track, featuring the most incredible sub-bass I’ve ever heard. Turn on your speakers; you can’t fully appreciate this on your laptop! Absolutely mind-blowing!

Kate Bush – Hounds of Love (album)

I adore the directness and uniqueness she brings, along with the narrative songs woven into this album. It’s both provocative and bold, yet carries a sense of fearfulness and solitude, mirroring the complexity of being human. I simply cherish this woman and vinyl.

Massive Attack – Mezzanine (album)

I remember getting this on CD and playing it repeatedly. “Teardrop” is truly a beautiful piece.
