Following the launch of his Trust Issues label in September with the immersive underground house cut ‘Flint’, London-based talent Tian Karl swiftly returns with his second single, ‘Don’t Lie’, from his forthcoming debut album ‘Things To Say About Words’. DMCWorld goes Back To Mine with Tian Karl.
Al Jarreau – Spirit
I don’t think there’s a record that taught me more about groove than this one (maybe Spanish Joint by D’Angelo but let’s not get into that rabbit hole). Just a masterpiece on every level.
Jeff Buckley – Mojo Pin
The Grace album is an absolute all time classic. I think any artist dreams of creating something as intimate as this.
Mara TK – Bad Meditation
The entire album is outstanding. His sensibilities for lyrics, melodies…Super intricate and tastefully done. The whole record is one sonic immersive experience. Unbelievable.
Ian Pooley – What’s Your Number (Jazzanova Remix)
I’m almost embarrassed to pick the remix here because I’m a big big Ian Pooley fan. And I usually don’t say that about any artist. Again this record is pure groove, musicality and just perfect. One of my all time favs.
Skee Mask – Untitled 279
This track blew me away. And it still does. I’ve listened to it countless times and every element still catches me off guard. Skee Mask never misses.
Call Super – I Love Like Your Men
Call Super’s sound design choices and basslines are so special. Always reduced to its absolute essence. And the almost hidden nuances… Everything Call Super puts out is elegant. I don’t even listen to the tracks anymore before I buy them.
Girada Unlimited – Zapata
I mean listen to it. Groovy, just the right amount of insane and truly minimal. I love creative tracks like that.
Larry Heard Presents Mr. White – The Sun Can’t Compare
I don’t know if this is cheating. But you could’ve asked me 10 years ago and ask me again in 10 years again: this track will always be my all time fav electronic track.
