The Time And Space Machine transports Graingerboy to No1

1 (6) GRAINGERBOY – TRAINSURFING IN TIME AND SPACE – POPCRISIS

Richard Norris in his Time And Space Machine guise remixes Trainsurfing from the Silent Universe EP, creating an atmospheric Balearic disco masterpiece, awash with that certain vibe where everything feels a little bit special. The poncho revival starts here. https://soundcloud.com/graingerboy/trainsurfing-in-time-and-space

2 (3) DJ PIERRE – SAVE OUR WORLD EP – DEEPLAY DIGITAL

The Original Mix is a perky rump shakin’ techno number that just keeps on driving, aided by a call to arms megaphone vocal. Moodmusic head honcho Sasse comes up trumps in the remix department, delivering two electrifying workouts, with smouldering low end 303 and intricate spot on machine percussion, teasing, pleasing and explosive. The Acid Dub takes no prisoners. https://soundcloud.com/deeplaydigital/dj-pierre-save-our-world-sasse

3 (9) YOUNGHUSBAND – SILVER SISTERS – SONIC CATHEDRAL

New four piece from London serve up a sumptuous swirling mix of colourful emotions, with a post punk feel and a slightly deadpan vocal, that’s a bit Ian Hunter meets Robert Smith. Lifted from their forthcoming debut LP Dromes, definitely one to check. http://youtu.be/keGauqHihR4

4 (5) EMILIANA TORRINI – SPEED OF DARK – VIRGIN

A triumphant return for the Icelandic songstress, as the original mix swoons and grooves across the daytime airwaves that matter, but just to make sure it hits the spot, it comes armed with a hypnotic 10 minute Andrew Weatherall locked in and nothing else matters jobby. Guaranteed to get a what the fuck is this reaction. https://soundcloud.com/xlr8r/emiliana-torrini-speed-of-dark http://youtu.be/ytqvkWCpZf4

5 (19) TYTHE – & ALSO WITH YOU – SUNDAY BEST

The debut LP from London producer Julian Peck, filled with warm sunshine grooves and incense fuelled chilled ambience. It’s what beach bars are made for. http://youtu.be/_Z_ocu74jHk

6 (1) ROOTS MANUVA – STOLEN YOUTH – BIG DADA

This slow burning brooding atmospheric number, originally written for the soundtrack to the first series of Channel 4’s Skins, first surfaced in 2007. The producers of Skins were so blown away, they asked Segal to do a remix to play over the final rolling credits in 2013. Powerful stuff. http://youtu.be/XyZtbLCp0Pg

7 (8) MARIAM THE BELIEVER – INVISIBLE GIVING (PRINS THOMAS DISKOMIX) – MOSHI MOSHI

Mariam Wallentin is better known as one half of Scandinavian pop duo Wildbirds And Peacedrums. Here she ventures out on her own, creating a positive and forceful song with her powerful vocals. Prins Thomas cooks up intoxicating rhythms and a heady brew. The result is reminiscent of DFA’s The Gossip at their best. https://soundcloud.com/prinsthomas/mariam-the-believer-invisible

8 (2) CROCODILES – CRIMES OF PASSION – ZOO MUSIC

Their most accomplished LP to date is at the forefront of 21st century psychedelic pop, riding on hip shaking grooves and oozing bundles of fuzzy cool. Fantastic! http://youtu.be/jEnXVhsoumU

9 (10) CHRIS TURNER – FLYLOVE – REBIRTH

Remixed and mastered for Rebirth, The 2013 Radio Edit is an out there slice of 21st Century freaky Californian soul with a jazz twist. It’s what hallucinogens on a summers day were made for. Detroit’s Andres and the UK’s Full Intention both deliver a nice couple of bumping mixes. http://youtu.be/kXdxeeagqyo

10 (13) LORELLE MEETS THE OBSOLETE – WHAT’S HOLDING YOU? –

SONIC CATHEDRAL

The first track to be lifted from the Mexican duo’s third LP Chambers, is a relentless, hazardous, driving psych-out, that could induce foaming at the mouth and rolling eyes. It comes flipped with the excellent and much sought after Medicine To Cure Medicine Sickness. https://soundcloud.com/sonic-cathedral/lorelle-meets-the-obsolete-1

11 (17) BIG HARD EXCELLENT FISH – AND THE QUESTION REMAINS –

ONE LITTLE INDIAN

It’s been 23 years since The Imperfect List first raised eyebrows and turned heads. Well now Big Hard Excellent Fish make an equally provocative return, as Josie Jones spits out the current disgusting state of life in Britain today, set over a dramatic classical piece of music. Silver Bullet take it on an eerie spaced out groove, and Rootmasters serve it up on a bed of deep tones.  http://youtu.be/cwaKH5SjE2o

12 (NEW) BALI FAMILY FT. NAVID IZADI – RAIN & SHINE – SOUTHERN FRIED

James What of Crosstown and Poker Flat fame was on holiday in Bali, where on a whim he hooked up with Luca C (Brigante’s other half), and vocalist Jamie Graham, together the trio made a woozy and dreamy psychedelic number with simmering acid house feels. If Jason Spaceman ever made a club record, it would probably be along these lines. Shame about the tagged on unnecessary rap, go straight for the rap free Dub.

SPEEDY WUNDERGROUND

Dan Carey, Oli Bayston and Beth Buxton have a sunshine frazzled wig out in Dan’s South London studio with an Oxfam purchased 1950’s tape recorder and an anonymous recording which was already on the featured machine. 18 (20) M+A – THESE DAYS – MONOTREME

Brighton three piece with a heavy pounding lament that just gets more and more intense until it feels like your bones are going to snap. Comes backed with the lighter but still satanic Hey Bernice.

21 (NEW) GARY NUMAN – LOVE HURT BLEED – MORTAL

A firing on all cylinders return, as pounding aggressive synths steamroller in on jackhammer beats, pushing his in your face, sneering rock flavoured lyrics to the fore, with a chorus that’s got a contrasting hooky riff, not too far off Space’s disco classic Magic Fly.

http://youtu.be/KsY2dpOJGPk
