Words : Dan Prince

Andreas a huge welcome to DMCWORLD. Are you in your home city of Copenhagen on this beautiful Spring day?

Well in Copenhagen it’s cold and winter right now, but luckily I’m on my Australia / Asia tour right now and here it’s super warm!

Wonderful. The best piece of new music you have heard since rolling out of bed?

No doubt Slumberjack – Fracture. Hands down.

The last few years has seen you on a giant musical rollercoaster ever since your debut EP ‘808%’ back in 2013. The new tune ‘For You’ is the first under your freshly signed deal with Spinnin’ Records and has quite a story behind it. You found inspiration for it after a festival back in 2015, what was it about that event and that time in your life that inspired you to hit the studio?

Summer always gives me energy, creativity and inspiration for more happy vibes, so that’s what I brought in to the studio at that time.

Why did it lie dormant for 2 years sitting in your iTunes box?

I always have around 30 open session that I’m working on, so decided to keep it safe on my computer until I had the exact same feeling again one year later and finished a lot of other tracks meanwhile.

What makes this such a GREAT live track?

Because of the tempo and the vibe it’s a great live track for me, cause it brings variation into my sets.

Okay let’s rewind for a moment. What is your earliest memory of music?

Danish lullaby songs.

Was music always going to be the career for you or was there something else you could have done for a career?

I’m really not good at anything else besides this, so when I started producing I knew that this was my thing.

What did your family think of your choice?

Both my parents respected and supported my choice from the beginning even though they both are academics.

What was the idea back then, perform, write, produce…or all of it!?!?!

Mainly to produce.

What was the first real ‘break’ into the music industry?

When I released my “808%” EP and shortly after got invited to play live on the national radio station in Denmark. Without knowing anything about how to DJ, the host taught me how to do it live on air.

Your music has been championed by the likes of Diplo, DJ Snake and The Chainsmokers. Do any of the artists who give you thumbs up give you a sense of pride, is there one particular producer you enjoy on the ‘support’ list?

In the beginning, I did some bootlegs of Martin Garrix’ “Animals” and “Tremor”. Going from that to support from Martin Garrix himself, inviting me to Ibiza and play alongside him and get an official remix of his biggest hit. That’s support that means a lot to me.

You live in the food capital of the world. Can you cook?

Of course bro!

Where is the best restaurant in your city you have ventured to?

“Kebabistan” Istedgade best kebab. “Deep” Vesterbrogade best Indian. “Mother”” best pizza.

Where can we catch you live this summer?

It seems like I’m going to play all around the world. I’m not sure which shows are announced. But I will be playing in the US, Asia and Europe.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

Don’t drink coffee with a straw. Hands down.

Who is your greatest friend on the planet?

Can’t answer this man, I’ll piss off somebody…haha!!

You make a time capsule. What is the 1 album you bury for people of the future to listen to in 100 years time?

Dr Dre – 2001

What is coming next from you musically?

My next track will be with a vocal feature, of course released via Spinnin’ Records.

And finally, the new tune is entitled ‘For You’. Gotta ask, who is the ‘You’…?

My girlfriend Victoria.
