Italy’s Adrian set out his stall on his Gigolo debut ‘My Boyfriend Is Very Sexy’. His motto is ‘Say it loud I’m gay and I’m proud’ – with the emphasis on loud. Subtle this ain’t as slogan-lyrics to ditties like ‘Blow Job’ and ‘Macho Boy’ are bellowed or growled over the rough punk-electro backdrops. He’s out to shock and would probably horrify Coldplay fans, but tracks like ‘Go To Sleep, Bitch’ and ‘I Hate Him’ work as a kind of intense gay Italian take on early porno-house outings by the likes of Sweet Pussy Pauline and Hateful Head Helen. The effect of titles like ‘A Very Hard Thing’ or donkey-ode ‘Lick My Ass’ can be Charles Hawtrey seduced by Kenneth Williams on Viagra in a spin-dryer full of powerful drugs but I would love to see the effect of this on the ‘floor at The Cock.
