HIROSHI WATANABE
A KLIK RECORDS TRIBUTE
KLIK

Cards on the table: this is just plain gorgeous. Greece’s Klik Records have constructed a tribute to visionary Japanese producer Hiroshi Watanabe resulting in a CD which not only soothes the savage breast but could even be welcomed as a kind of warm, aural morphine. The seven tracks- some under his Kaito, 32 Project or Quadra aliases, the rest under his own name – all plumb a similar vibe but it’s a deliriously beautiful one. Orchestral string laters, deep pads and twinkling Mayday-style synth flickers swell with bottomless emotion and calming inner momentum. The music often recalls Carl Craig at his deepest. ‘Point Of Life’ even conjures memories of Wayne Gardner’s flinger-clicking deep house workouts on Strictly. Music to have a long bath in or to. Oh just one more superlative then – brilliant.
