All We Are – All We Are – (Double Six)

Some bands spend ages on their biographies, but not Liverpool based trio All We Are. ‘The Bee Gees on diazepam’ is the single sentence they’ve written – and it sums them up really well. There is some blissful music on their self-titled debut, either subtly private or confidently stepping out for the night. I found personally the intimacy works the best, with the twisted guitar lines on ‘Stone’ powering a rather beautiful song. Alongside the beloved Bee Gees references – ‘Honey’ and ‘I Wear You’ do a great job with those – there is the warming intimacy of Metronomy and even a smidgeon of B52s in ‘Keep Me Alive’, expressed through the slight rasp of vocalist Guro Gikling. If you’re after some pop music that likes to roam off the beaten track, these three are definitely for you.
