Chris Salt
No Surrender
Silver Planet

The Cambridge University grad has being working with Silver Planet for the best part of a decade now, and this long awaited album aptly bears fruit of both his and the label’s dedication. Including a handful of previous singles, such as 2003’s ‘Dub Sonar’ and ‘Atmospheric Graffiti’ that burble along in true tripped-out hypnotic house fashion, right through to dreamy ‘Endgame’ that appeared earlier this year. As to the balance of the album it’s everything you’d expect from a man who’s know for his simplistic musical oeuvres and head-swimmingly elaborate sound collage of mesmerising progressive house moods and epic dreamy melodies. Stark in places (‘Ik Ben Terug’), grungy in others (‘Depth Charge’) and rockier in others (‘No Surrender’) – all underpinned with a well balanced and constructed electronica foundation that boarders on a cross pollination of genres without ever settling on one.
