Dapayk Solo – #NOFILTER – (Mo’s Ferry Productions)

With the zeitgeisty #NOFILTER as its title, Dapayk Solo’s fourth album is actually a study in irony, where Niklas Worgt decides to look at the cliché of the big gloomy nightclub, ‘where everyone has to be credible and cool all the time’. That would definitely explain the creature ‘bursting out of her dress’ in Bukowski, which is a good showcase for the Worgt approach – plenty of percussion, exposed bass lines that cut and thrust impressively, and a range of riffs and speech / sound clips that complement each other well. ‘No Filter’ itself starts like an aggressive ticking clock, while ‘Where’s My Fan’ is good, with a sharp bass and bumpy beat. If you took this seriously you might not like it as much, but the ironic observations are subtly and humourously done, while the rhythms themselves are inventive and very dancey.
