Initially appearing on Stax’s Volt subsidiary they went on to score big time moving to Columbia with the assistance of Charles Stepney (Chess records) and Maurice White (Earth, Wind and Fire). Featuring a total of forty tracks this very fine soulfully charged music comes hard to beat, whether that’s the heart tugging melodies of ‘Flowers’ or the rousing ‘From Toys To Boys’, or indeed of course the uplifting Disco of ‘Best Of My Love’. As always with Big Break the collection is tastefully packaged and feature’s Christian John Wikane’s inspiring narrative, which contains one of the last interviews given by Maurice White before his death earlier this year.
