For his second album, Denmark’s Kasper Bjorke shows off an impressive versatility at a wide range of electronic pop, with guest slots from several of his countrymen. The songs are stately affairs to begin with, though a cool instrumental makes itself known as Dasko Vanitas. There are occasional hints of techno in the leaner tracks, but where Bjorke really excels is in the subtle electronics and well crafted songwriting. A song like Efficient Machine, featuring Who Made Who vocalist Tomas Hoffding, stays in the mind for a long time after just the first listen – and that test holds up well for some of Bjorke’s more catchy material. As a complement ‘Melmax’ dons some sharper shoes for a more acidic stint on the dancefloor. This is something just a little different for those Royksopp and Mylo fans among you who want a bit of cool, deadpan electro pop. Bjorke knows where it’s at.
