Motor’s long-awaited debut is here, and it’s a sonic assault course with techno music that mixes floorfilling, house-based material with sharper sounds to test the tweeters. The single ‘Black Powder’ kicks off in vibrant fashion, with the threatening bass tones of ‘Boton’ and the snare drum action of ‘Sweatbox’ exploring opposite ends of the spectrum, with the synthesized sound twisted and warped to fit. It all adds up to a dark debut album that pushes at the boundaries of house with an industrial tool.
