OCTAVE ONE
THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING
CONCEPT

Around since the birth of Detroit techno in the late ‘80s the sibling outfit centered around brothers Lawrence, Lenny and Lorne Burden, known collectively as Octave One, lived for many years in the shades of Inner City and later the Reese Project. How ironic then that they’d get their first international break by employing former Inner City vocalist Ann Saunderson to front their cult ‘Blackwater’ single. Five years on and ‘The Theory Of Everything’ lives up to its name fusing hip-hop traits (voiced by rapper P.Gruv) with crystalline electronica in the Underground Resistance-mold, and even soulful techno; Saunderson sounding most at home on the rasping ‘Somedays’ and down-tempo ‘World U Know’.
