Pivot mark their Warp debut with a startlingly futuristic post-rock album, if that’s not a contradiction in terms. ‘O Soundtrack My Heart’ is underpinned by synthesizers but features an organic band sound, so that tightly regulated improvisation can take place. The most striking example of their sound is perhaps ‘In The Blood’, though the title track finds a surprisingly graceful treble line while drums and bass hurry underneath. If you bought and liked the Battles album last year, then this one will definitely float your boat – sporting an 80s flavour that really suits it.
