Four years and three albums down the road, Sugababes are now the household name they promised they would be, with some classic pop hits under their collective belt to prove that, in fact, they were in it for the long haul; an admirable feat in the high turnover X factor hungry world of modern pop. For “Taller In More Ways” (their fourth album), they’ve promised their most personal long player yet, hooking up with previous hit meisters Dallas Austin, Guy Sigsworth & Cathy Dennis, and they’ve captured the patented Sugababes sound well. Knowing nods towards current club trends – a bit of gritty electro and house, rockier moments, 80’s cover versions (Animotion’s “Obsession”, no doubt a future single contender) – alongside some pleasant acoustic moments, too. Sugababes, they’re back and pushing all the buttons with obvious aplomb.
