This invaluable series continues with an impressive double header from DJ Hell, with strong techno leanings in two varied sets. The first is decidedly minimal and pretty dark, with Opiates’ ‘Candy Coated Crime’ and The Model’s ‘Newly Found Voids’ distinctive cuts placed alongside Joel Alter’s epic ‘Snake Eyes’. CD2 feels more relaxed, drifting through some more mellow sound worlds, though Henrik Schwarz appears with his cover of Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back 2 Black’ that will make a few hairs stand up. With Abe Duque and Lopazz also appearing, this one shades it for me – though aficionados of the dark side will want to hear both.
