Trentemøller – ‘Reworked / Remixed’ – (In My Room)

This is a welcome release, for Trentemøller’s acute ear for colour and detail means his remixes are nowhere near ordinary. What also appeals about this double compilation is that it isn’t just his own remixes, but reworkings of his stuff by Efterklang, Marie Fisker and Modeselektor among others. Much of CD1 is mean, moody and magnificent – with a bit more punch added to the remix of The Dø’s ‘Too Insistent’ and the sharp, urgent take on Lars and The Hands Of Light’s ‘Me Me Me’. CD2 thrills with remixes of Depeche Mode’s ‘Wrong’ – a powerful, bruising number that suits the vocal perfectly – and Mew’s ‘Beach’, a more subdued and thoughtful version. The final track, an instrumental version of ‘Neverglade’, charms with its subtle guitar tremolos, a touch of Morricone added. The collection is well thought out, standing as an ample testament to the talent of a very fine remixer indeed.
