Occupying the boundaries between house and techno, the second Drumpoet Community compilation is most definitely a thing of beauty. The Detroit influences are evident right from the off, with Hunch’s ‘Took My Love’ and DC’s ‘Riot’ showing a good blend of minimal material and subtle rhythmic prodding. Lost Men’s ‘More Of That’ is particularly impressive with its warm synth chords, while Johannes Lehner’s ‘Smart One’ goes for something a bit bouncier. Quarion’s ‘I Found You On Facebook’ is another highlight, its well projected electro bassline taking the lead, but really this is a compilation for deep house heads and lovers of early techno. It runs smoothly, showcasing some serious four to the floor talent on its way.
