Since debuting ten years ago on Dave Angel’s Rotation label, Vince Watson has appeared under a string of different aliases for most of our leading techno labels. But here he rears proudly under his own moniker with an absolute stunner on his Bio imprint. Quite right too. It’s a real journey, created on Ableton Live Software from the Bio back catalogue, passing effortlessly from the starting ‘Eternal’ through huge, blazing banks of electronic euphoria like ‘Paradox’, ‘Friction’ and the Joris Voorn-Joel Mull remix of ‘Intuition’. The bottomless strings, flickering synths and riveting dynamics recall nothing less auspicious than classic UR-Mayday but the soul is all Vince Watson, and there’s lashings of it as the music ebbs, flows and soars with euphoric emotion. Vince is going to release an EP on Transmat. The ultimate accolade, but that gives you some idea of where he’s coming from on his fantastic techno voyage.
