Dublin duo uncork their debut album on the respected breaks label and show a good enough grasp of a sometimes restrictive genre to stamp their own personality on its gyrating buttocks. The opening ‘Here On Business’ sets the template with wired beats, lower boom blasts and a touch of acid. ‘Them And You’ brings in rap and as the album – which I was very happy to get on vinyl – progresses, they introduce touches of electro, boogie and low-slung Davy DMX riffs. Phil and Bren have only been going a year and they’ve already got the Annie Nightingale seal of approval, so this is a promising start.
