COOKIE CUTTER

Experimental elements from French dub producer Zenzile Sound System.  “Real Rock” starts off well, allowing space to develop under a neat dubstep type flow, an old-school vocal sample giving it a thugged out vibe, but then totally ruins it with a crashing guitar motif that’s way too far up in the mix.  “Basstone” moves across to Basic Channel dub territory and does it with aplomb, utilising some eerie noises.  “Mille Francs Mille Francs” comes in remixed form only – Matthew Herbert’s skanking electro-jazz dub-athon, which is a nice Herbert tune; and Doctor L, who comes up with a gorgeous late night inner city jam, like Billy Holliday remixed by DMZ overseen by Maurizio.  Worth a look if you want something different.
