I remember when the first Bassbin Twins EP turned up in Fat Cat records. A lot of big beat revellers were knocked sideways as the sound’s limitless horizons became more clear. Adam Freeland’s Marine Parade is a good home for a modern breaks masterclass. There’s a hint of ‘Murder Was The Bass’, noises and exclamations, all rammed together with sheer class. But old skool gold busts loose on the flip as they gouge a filthy house groove on which to hurl vocal clips and even ESG’s immortal ‘UFO’ noise. Pure quality from masters at work.
