Fast-rising Hong Kong-born DJ-producer Janette is now based in London and, having carved a reputation as a shit-hot DJ over the past few years, now makes her recorded debut on the respected Air. The lead track is a playful funk expedition with sexy vibe to elevate it above the testosterone-pumped teeth-gnashings which characterises much under the breaks banner. Then ‘Red Ramona’ is a subtle, dubscape which again works a magic which seems to come from the soul. First release and the lady’s already got her own sound. Very promising.
