DOGTOWN CLASH
WEST LONDON’S BURNING
WESTWAY

Continuing its fixation with Clash-related titles, one of 2005’s brightest new labels greets the new year in storming fashion with its first full rap excursion. The original sets up a backdrop of Two-Tone style ska-snatches with ‘Ghost Town’-style eeriness, brass parps and the unidentified rapper, all glued onto hefty breaks. The dub is stretched, wigged-out and suitably off its dub-nut. The Klaus remix strips it down and arranges the elements with focus on the rap and bringing in on-the-buton acid. It’s then you realise what a strong tune this is [and again what a great label].
