Nick Slater and Kevin Lancaster once ruled the rave scene as Shades Of Rhythm. Now they’ve slowed their funky beats a tad and reinvented themselves as breaks monsters the Drumatic Twins. The topping is still hardcore, you know the score. Riffs pack a meatily malevolent snarl while the vocal samples are rave-style hiphop clips, a James Brown ‘gimme some’ and even what sounds like the geezer from Stepz going ‘whoo’ from their live video. The tracks come from their mix compilation, ‘Finger Lickin’ Export 1′ and show that this duo can still be as dynamic as ever.
