Rawkus’s re-emergence as a functioning label last year was a welcome surprise, and these Kidz (rapper Naledge and beat-maker Double O) lead the new roster with ideas and much gusto – always a good combination. ‘Wheelz Fall Off’ updates Souls Of Mischief’s ’93 Til Infinity’ (the same killer sample!) with an all-important modern feel, making it more than a lazy homage. Flip the bugger over for the energetic ‘Cruise Control’ and ‘Move On Up’, which we’ll label an “anthem”. Really, if you want top-drawer rap music in 2007, you need to get acquainted with this duo.
