James Chapman is Maps and his songs are out there soundscapes that float around simple melodies. ‘Don’t Fear’ drifts in on a dark cloud of loneliness, that gradually layers in different textures, from the silver lining and on through to the blazing morning glory, lifting your spirits as Maps half whispers and half sings, ‘Don’t fear the sun, feel like someone, and somehow, somehow, come on’. ‘Don’t Fear’ wwouldn’tsound out of place on SSpritualized’s‘Pure Phase’. Bring it on.
