Hot new Italian producer Michele ‘Phonat’ Balduzzi debuts on the label responsible for Medcab’s ‘Dance’. He’s only 22 but ‘One Million’ boasts a feel for classic electro as the 808 drum machine is given a good going over as a bedrock for sinister riffs, evil bass and even the wanking Sweep noise. It can recall Hashim or Maggotron but the energy and production is defiantly 21st century. ‘Machine Noise’ is a denser affair with robo-vocals and shades of a classic old song lurking in the swirling electronic undergrowth. One of the first new talents to suggest that 2006 could be a very good year too.
