This is the second release for Mr. Sketchy on SuperStyleDeluxe’s label and it certainly is one of the cheekiest little funkers you’re likely to hear for some time. You can see why SSD were interested in this as it sounds not unlike some of their best work. It’s basically the idea of taking the sleazy funk of Bootsy, George Clinton and their whole P-funk un-sensibilities and digitizing the fuck out of it, putting it through an off-kilter quirk filter and slapping its booty with some bongo madness. The other side is a kind of exercise in increasing the required bleep quotient in the digital funk of current breakbeat.
