Superstyle Deluxe’s new label project continues with a quirky little number from new artist Rebel Sketchy. Built around a kind of Pearl & Dean sounding bee-bop sample, (sounds dodgy but isn’t), this approaches glitchy areas in places and has lots of interesting edits to keep the track moving along on its cushion of bountiful bass. It does have a certain naivety but that’s not a fault. On the other side you get an acid-plump-funk remix courtesy of The Drumattic Twins that will certainly not disappoint fans of the Finger Lickin’ sound. All squelchy synths, fat chug-funk basslines and plenty of party bells and whistles. There’s plenty more to come from the Payback Project, so keep a look out.
