Second volume of gems which reaffirm Anja Schneider’s Mobilee as one of the most charismatic and forward-thrusting labels in electronic dance music. Ostensibly minimal by the fact that tracks don’t need overcooking to make their point but the sound goes deeper than that, often showing a classic early 90s New York deep house influence; the keyboard motifs on Anja’s ‘Belize’ and Jennifer Cardini’s sublimely-compelling ‘August In Paris’ with its spoken vocal are pure Burrell Brothers or Logic, albeit warped into a different dimension, blurred into soft-focus and spiced with alien textures. Having said that, Sleeper Thief’s Cenotes richochets in best Berlin minimal style while Marco Resmann’s ‘Gouache’ is a shadowy techno-dub variant. CD2 sees gummHz weave 27 label highlights into an intoxicating smorgasbord of wriggling, sensual electronic waves and waterfalls.
