Third installment in the LA duo’s live mix shows, kicked off some years back with the infamous Brainfreeze tour. As before, the concept is a ‘mix’, constructed live using only 7″ vinyl, along with 8 turntables, 4 mixers, some guitar pedals and a passion for obscure vinyl gems. This episode sees them digging beyond the confines of funk and hip-hop, bringing on board jazz, doo-wop, heavy metal, grime, soundtracks, electro and a whole lot more that defies classification. No tracklists, naturally – they’ve done the work in sourcing and assembling this mix, it’s down to the listener to identify the rest (which is part of the fun really). Watch for where they re-piece classic hip-hop from the originally sampled records. Sheer, unaldurated, messy genius, fantastically packaged – catch it quick before it disappears.
