A highlight from Public Enemy’s Fear Of A Black Planet album gets reworked by what could be an unlikely supegroup – DJ Spooky, Living Colour’s Vernon Reid, Dave Lombardo of fearsome speed-metal merchants Slayer, Meat Beat Manifesto’s Jack Dangers and – most strikingly -Chuck D bringing back that incendiary rap. The backdrop is top notch heavy metal hiphop, complete with grunge death-guitars – but it works a treat. There’s also an instrumental and acapella. Only the multi-hued playground of Thirsty Ear could have come
up with something as healthily audacious as this.
