The dame of Berlin techno steps up to the Fabric decks, and delivers a mix of subtlety, soul and emotional depth. Paced to perfection, the set opens with relatively minimal, cool techno from Estro, the softly menacing Damian Schwartz and Don Williams, all succeeding in making less do more. Later on, Thom Yorke’s ‘Harrowdown Hill’ is an inspired inclusion, complemented by Allien’s own ‘Just A Woman’. Just before the close she slows the pace effectively for the rolling beats of Apparat’s ‘Arcadia’, its haunting vocal itself having a bit of Yorke about it, but an ideal way to close.
