ESKIMO VOLUME 5: THE GLIMMERS

ESKIMO

Jay Haze, the American causing havoc in Berlin, is Fuckpony and dropped one of last year’s best albums out of his foetid rectum in Children of Love. For his appearance on Ellen Allien’s mighty label he’s decided to get even sicker and, over a typically zoned-out take on the oiginal acid house groove, prods Philadelphia MC Lil Dirrty Ghetto Bastard to inhale deply from a can of laughing gas and ruminate on the whereabouts of this well-known Lady Judy. It’s up there with Ambivalent’s ‘R U OK’ as one of this year’s sickest but most entertaining tunes. Then Matthew Styles and Jamie Jones come along, increase the dosage and, after stripping down to a sandpaper thong, inflict severe damage with a rogue hi-hat. Sick house music rides again, and so it should after 20-something years.
