As you’d expect, UK Dubstate the Mixtape is a collection of these tracks from DJ Excalibah’s much missed ‘Tales from the Legend’ show on BBC 1Xtra. All the biggest names in UK rap passed through Excalibah’s show at some point, and what you have here is a reflection of that fact: big names from the UK scene picking their favourite US beats and giving them their own twist. The Dubstate was one of the first places to hear break through artists such as Est’elle (MOBO award winner 2004), Sway (MOBO award winner 2005) and Klashnekoff. Other highlights include Manchester’s finest Broke’n’English, Low Life Records head honcho Braintax, Kyza (Terrafirma) and UK veterans Taskforce plus a whole gang of other big names and ‘up and coming’ artists like Conflix, Luc Skyz and Cardiff’s Ralph Rip S**t. Excalibah blends the tracks himself, with random interludes and skits playing on the Dubstate theme. Highly recommended, and all 100% exclusive to Excalibah.
