GALAXY 2 GALAXY
A HI-TECH COMPILATION
SUBMERGE/UNCIVILIZED WORLD

At the moment Detroit’s Underground Resistance bunker is recalling the ttime-honoredbus analogy where, after waiting ages, not two but several come along at the same time. There’s UR’s ‘Interstellar Fugitives’ set, artist albums by Dr De and Aux 88 and the impossibly joyous arrival of a double set roping together the astonishing explorations under the Galaxy 2 Galaxy tag on two CDs. To be criminally sweeping in description, G2G is when UR gets into Hi-Tech Jazz mode. Here UR’s euphoric funk and soul is joined by that human element where emotions are poured into the machine and, occasionally, venerable vessels like the sax. Early tracks like ‘Big Stone Lake’, ‘Jupiter Jazz’ and ‘Sometimes I Feel Like’ set a gorgeous template which could recall anything from Miles’ dark vibe to Eddie Gale’s Ghetto Music. Recent outings like ‘Inspiration’ and the jam-scape of ‘Momma’s Basement’ just add to the feeling that this could be some of the purest music you will ever hear.
