The Trip
Family

After acclaimed offerings from Tom Middleton, Dirty Vegas and Snow Patrol, ‘The Trip’ is navigated on their latest release by the prolific disco don, who on his umpteenth compilation of the past twelve months selects anything but a mirrored ball and flashing dancefloor selection you might expect; instead very much in keeping with this series’ eclectic philosophy. Swirling orchestral string epics from John Barry, Dusty Springfield and Laurie Johnson (the latter with the wonderful ‘Theme From The Avengers’) mingling with ’80s gems from Duel, Will Powers and Rosie Vela. The soulful sonic second disc (always deemed the more chilled of the two), nicely dovetailing material from Seawind, Kool & the Gang, Incognito and the Isley Brothers’ sublime, ‘Highways Of My Life’.
