This excellent anthology of the mighty Salsoul Orchestra features some absolute corkers from their golden mid-70s period, the Vincent Montana era. Classics like ‘Runaway’, ‘Catch Me On The Rebound’ and ‘It’s Good For The Soul’ sound every bit as fresh today, the musicianship outstanding and the grooves funky as hell. A few curious additions include covers of ‘You Should Be Dancing’ and ‘Staying Alive’, throwing the originals into a new light, and CD2 delves into the early 80s with contributions from Loleatta Holloway and Jocelyn Brown. Stellar music, lovingly compiled.
