Fiftieth anniversary time (in releases, not years!) for Germany’s Background Records, the focus on minimal house and techno sharply defined here. Of the eight tracks here a stand-out is the darkly weird ‘Low Moon’ of DB, whose off beat meanderings are strangely effective. From warmer climbs comes the hypnotic Rhythm Maker track ‘Don’t Disturb The Monotony’, while on the housier side of things Pascal Schaefer’s ‘Deep Thoughts’ inspires exactly that. Ending with the synthesized swirl of Terrence Dixon’s ‘Detroit City Limits’, this is a milestone solidly planted.
