British trance is in good shape right now, and leading the way are Anjunabeats, spearheaded by Above & Beyond. This pair of mixes surpasses even last year’s ‘Worldwide’ comp, with trance music that’s relatively easy on the ear but firm on the floor. The first mix is superb, with cool beginnings from Michael Cassette and Jaytech moving into big, anthemic stuff from Nitrous Oxide and Oliver Smith. Above & Beyond’s ‘Buzz’ works well here, too, but their club version of ‘Home’ on CD2 is even better, perfectly paced and structured and with a strongly emotive vocal. Maor Levi, Daniel Kandi and Evbointh complete a storming collection.
