The remit for the “Back In The Box” series is a simple – but very good – one. Pick a selection of older club records which worked first time round, packing out the floor and causing whoops of joy whenever played. This time up, it’s ‘Little’ Louis Vega who charms with a two CD selection of house music nostalgia. Mighty Dub Katz, House Of Gypsies, Shazz, Gerideau, The Reese Project, Romanthony, Black Science Orchestra, there are some choice titles, ranging from NY trackiness to full on disco to gloriously uplifting vocals and US Garage anthems. Love ’em or loath ’em, you can’t help but sing along to Crystal Water’s “Gypsy Woman” or Ralphi Rosario’s “U Used To Hold Me”. And any excuse to play K-Scope and Norma Jean Bell again is surely only a good thing. Perfect tunes, perfect execution, this should see your party soundtrack needs catered for for a long time to come.
