There’s something reassuring about a Bargrooves mix, and even in the depths
of winter it works like a hot water bottle rather than a night on a
Meditteranean balcony. Both of the ‘Autumn Collection’ mixes are entrusted
to label head Ben Sowton, who rarely puts a foot wrong on the percussive
first CD, which showcases Bargrooves talents Physics alongside the Ananda
Project, Soul Central and Kings of Groove. CD2 is reassuringly full bodied
of beat, with Liquid People, Afrodrops and Scope in good voice. You’ll know
by now if you like the Bargrooves approach – and this double keeps the
quality threshold high.
